Korea-to-OQT-25-09-2011
Korea will head to the Olympic Qualifying Tournament looking to book a place in the Games for the first time since 1996

JOR/KOR - Jordan, Korea complete OQT field
WUHAN (FIBA Asia Championship) - China came away from Wuhan with the sole automatic place at stake for next year's Olympic Games.
Jordan and Korea came up just short in that quest but still have a chance of joining the Chinese in London via the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT).

Jordan lost to China 70-69 in Sunday's Final but their second-place finish - their best-ever result in the FIBA Asia Championship - was enough to put them in a position to secure their first-ever Olympic berth next summer.

A day after losing to the host nation in the Semi-Final, Korea came from behind late to edge out the Philippines 70-68 in the Bronze Medal Game and take the all-important last spot in the OQT.

The two representatives from Asia will be joined in the 12-team tournament by representatives from the four other FIBA zones.

They are
Africa:
Angola; Nigeria
Americas: Dominican Republic; Puerto Rico; Venezuela
Europe: F.Y.R. of Macedonia; Greece; Lithuania; Russia
Oceania: New Zealand

The top three teams in the Olympic Qualifying Tournament will join the nine teams that qualified automatically.
The OQT will take place in early July 2012 with both the dates and the venue to be confirmed.
